"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

I may, or may not, update this more regularly now that I have ACTUAL THINGS to upload, namely my photography, which is very much a work in progress as I learn how to do the things I want to do and what I need to do to get better.
More likely I will forget to update my journal at all, will see it in another 6 months and think "OOh, I'll do that" and then ignore it again.
